The Lowdown.

This unique will leave you with loads of new and different impressions of Bogota’s citizens.

The guides accompanying you are locals from the Egipto neighborhood who have a criminal past but changed their ways for the better.

First of all you will meet at La Candelaria to learn more about the project “Breaking Borders”. The project that gives these locals the possibility to show you Bogota from their point of view.

Your tour starts off at the border of the Egipto neighborhood at a church called Nuestra Señora de Egipto.

Walking along the Calle Real you will make your way deeper into the neighborhood towards El Cuadrado.

This used to be the central of the gang fights in the past and a very beneficial point to have control over if you were in one of the gangs.

Nowadays it is filled with murals of the past and present. A contrast of the bad and the good.

Continuing your walk through the barrio the transformation of this neighborhood will become evermore apparent and the graffiti on the walls does its best to underline this fact.

Once at the top of the hill where this neighborhood is located you will see the houses of your local guides and a positive outcome from this whole project.

A football field to bring the children together and spend time doing what they love.
