One would not easily believe that such a majestic cahtedral like this one would be located 180m underground. The Zipaquira Salt Cathedral is built in one of the largest salt-rock deposits on earth.
Once inside you can see how Catholic symbology and contemporary engineering converged into this giant temple.
Not only will this become apparent but you will be taken away by the sculptures made out of the materials from the former salt mines, and see salt formations and the vestiges from previous mining.
To round off the tour you will make your way into the colonial village of Zipaquira containing many different buildings that have been recognized as national monuments. Take your time to soak it all up and enjoy some freshly baked goods.
