Cartagena & Coffee Region.

Fun and enjoyment await you on this journey that crosses seas, rivers, and mountains to enter the heart of Colombia.

The Lowdown.

What We Love

  • Colombia is still a relatively undiscovered destination, meaning you can still enjoy quiet hiking trails, peaceful retreats, and off-the-beaten-track adventures without the crowds.

  • Delve deeper into new cultures, and a fiercely traditional way of life. This is trip is fun and educational!

  • With epic scenery, tons of adventure, and so much to learn, there’s little time for mobile phones and iPads. This vacation is all about disconnecting from the everyday,  and spending quality time with your family.

  • This jam-packed itinerary takes in some of Colombia’s most impressive natural wonders like Baru Bird Sanctuary and Cocora Valley. We know we’re biased, but it really is hard not to fall in love with these beautiful National Parks.

  • You’ll have some of Colombia’s most knowledgeable experts to guide you every step of the way, meaning you don’t just get to travel further, but deeper.

Your Itinerary at a Glance.

Day 1 — Coffee-tasting & Hacienda-living.

What better place to start the trip of a lifetime through Colombia than in the country’s lush coffee region? Your day will begin with a guided tour of a working coffee farm, where the little ones will be invited to get hands-on with every step of the coffee-making process, from picking the berries amongst local workers to de-pulping and processing back at the roastery.

After all that coffee-making and tasting, our guess is that you’ll all be ready for some relaxing. Choose from two of the region’s most stunning 19th-century haciendas - Hacienda Guayabal and Hacienda San Jose - or, if it’s more of the modern touches you’re after, kick back in the luxurious Hotel Boutique Sazagua.

Day 2 — Cócora Valley & Finlandia

.

Day two begins with a guided trek or horse ride through Colombia’s otherworldly Valle de Cócora, a misty, emerald-green highland paradise blanketed with fields upon fields of the tallest palm trees on our planet.

After a delicious picnic under the towering 60-meter palms, jump aboard your private transportation for a guided tour of little-visited Finlandia, a colorful colonial town boasting stunning architecture, fantastic restaurants and cafes, and some epic Zona Cafetera views from the town’s 19 meter-high mirador (lookout point).

Day 3 — Relax or explore at your own pace.

While we could fill every day with the endless activities on offer in the coffee region, we know that our families need some time to chill (you are on vacation, after all!).

Whether you fancy doing a little souvenir shopping (remember, this is your chance to buy some of the world’s best coffee!), exploring more of the region’s natural wonders, or just want to relax by your beautiful hotel pool, this day is for you and your family to take things at your own pace. Enjoy it!

Day 4 —  Fly to Cartagena.

Say farewell to Colombia’s coffee region, and hello to the country’s “Northern Queen”. On day four we’ll fly you to the UNESCO-listed colonial city of Cartagena, where 1700s bougainvillea-draped terraces, world-class restaurants, and white-sand Caribbean beaches await.

You’ll kick-start your time in Cartagena tracing the steps of the city’s most notorious pirate with an exciting treasure hunt through the Old Town’s best museums, landmarks, and cultural centers (beware: your little ones will be transformed into eyepatch-wearing buccaneers with our treasure chest full of pirate costumes!).

Then, enjoy old-world luxury interiors, rooftop pools, and impeccable service at one of our hand-picked, centrally located boutique hotels, Hotel Casa San Agustin or Bastion Luxury Hotel.

Day 5 — Explore the Rosario islands by speedboat.

It’s day five, and we reckon you’re just about ready for some much-needed beach time.

Get up early and spend the day exploring the crystal-clear waters and pearl-white sands of the nearby Rosario Islands on your very own private yacht or by public lancha, stopping by La Piscina for brilliant snorkeling opportunities and Agua Azul for pristine beaches and a fresh lobster lunch.

If it’s great cocktails, world-class food, and beachside swimming pools that speak to you, we’ll take you to Blue Apple Beach Club in Tierrabomba for a perfect day of eating, swimming, and relaxing.

Day 6 — Get in touch with nature & ring in the New Year in style

.

Kids haven’t quite had their fix of adventure yet? We’ve got you covered. Day six takes the whole family to the bird-watching paradise of Barú National Reserve, where, with the help of our experienced guides, your little adventurers will be able to spot colorful parrots, flocks of pink flamingos, tiny blue and green hummingbirds, and, even, the endangered Andean condor.

After a traditional Colombian lunch on beautiful Playa Blanca beach, it'll be time to head back to your hotel to get ready for an NYE to remember: think live Latin music, a 5-course gourmet dinner, and uninterrupted views of a Cartagena glowing with fireworks
