Born in 1932 in the city of Medellin, he traveled the world and lived in several countries never forgetting his origins.
Nowadays he is one of the most successful artists in the world. Although many people love his art there are at the same time countless critics and that explains his importance in contemporary art.
Botero uses traditional techniques and has established his own clear style of art. Painter and sculptor of voluptuous forms, admirer of the Old Masters and an ‘everyman’ artist, Botero is now in his 80s and is as prolific as ever.
As Botero was born in Medellín, the city museum offers an impressive permanent exhibition of Botero ́s work throughout the last decades. The museum is located at the Botero Square in downtown Medellín, full of impressive Botero sculptures.
