The Lowdown.

This is one of Colombia’s most luxurious private island homes. Located on the peninsular of Baru connected to Cartagena and the mainland by bridge, the beachfront villa sits alongside some of the most luxurious properties in Colombia.

Shelter.

This residential masterpiece blends a contemporary minimalist style with vernacular elements typical of Caribbean building traditions, such as a roof woven from local thatch that helps cool the house’s great hall and other details of artisanal work characteristic of the Caribbean culture, as well as the implementation of native materials and construction techniques.

Architect Alberto Burckhardt completed the work more than 20 years ago but a recent refit has refreshed the retreat maintaining a modern feel while preserving an authentic, and harmonious relationship with its surroundings.

Here, the sea and the dense, humid tropical jungle become determining factors in the design; the ocean view is maximized, and each of the interior spaces was designed with natural elements such as water and vegetation in mind.

The pool and outdoor terrace accentuate different parts of the house, integrating the interior with the exterior in an almost imperceptible way, bringing nature into the house and vice versa.

The villa can comfortably sleep up to 8 people distributed as follows:
